The Ledger
The public ledger in cryptocurrency gets its name from the traditional record-keeping method we have used since we discovered how to mass-produce food thousands of years ago. The ledger was available for public viewing. The ledger in crypto is like this old concept.
It is a record-keeping system that maintains the identities securely and records all the genuine transactions carried out between the network’s participants. We share it among all the nodes on the network. Even though everyone has a copy, no one person can change the contents on the ledger.
The blockchain itself is the ledger. Recording and storing all the transactions is the premise of a ledger. Distribution is how the ledger retains agility and functionality.
